Many parents decide to home school their kids. We do not encourage or discourage this choice. Each family has different concerns and reasons.
That said, we acknowledge that home school kids often excel at their studies and do better than average on their SATs. And we recognize the parents' legal right to home school.
Our participation in home school situations is usually to take care of a subject or two that may be beyond the teaching parent's competency. School subjects can get pretty serious... geometry, chemistry, languages and so on.
Most home schoolers conduct their learning in coordination with the school district for school credit. Typically, this involves a detailed study plan (in compliance with state DOE frameworks) be turned in prior to each school year. Then, at the end of each school year, a diary of those studies and corresponding assessments is turned in. Parents can write this up on their own, or we can do it.
